Nunavik fatal police shooting prompts BEI investigation in northern village

Two investigations have been launched by the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) following a fatal police shooting in Nunavik. Authorities are scrutinizing the circumstances behind the intervention that resulted in a death, as community tension mounts over policing practices in the region.
The watchdog says the fatal incident happened when members of the Nunavik Police Service wanted to arrest someone who was inside a tent in Kangiqsualujjuaq on Tuesday night.
