In a twist that could only be described as half-baked animal rescue, Dr. Oz’s well-intentioned offer to rehome British Columbia’s ostriches facing a cull has been flatly rejected by the farm owners. Despite health concerns raised by U.S. officials, the operators remain unmoved.

Oz is the administrator for the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is the second health official in the Trump administration to try to prevent the cull.
