Alberta is committing nearly $900,000 to modernize its wildfire monitoring network ahead of the hot, dry season. The upgrade will enhance early-warning capabilities by providing real-time data on temperature, humidity, wind, and moisture levels—crucial for anticipating wildfire risks. With improved sensors and communication systems, fire crews can deploy resources more effectively to protect communities and landscapes, mitigating potential damages from rapidly spreading wildfires.
The stations monitor conditions like temperature, humidity, wind and moisture in real time, helping fire crews know where they will be needed when the weather gets hot and dry.
As Alberta heads into the heart of wildfire season, the province is committing almost $1 million to upgrade its early-warning systems.
