Alberta has opted to resume purchasing U.S. alcohol after a months-long pause aimed at fighting tariffs. Officials indicate that the policy shift returns the province to its previous procurement practices, reinforcing cross-border trade and reflecting altered economic priorities in provincial procurement strategies.
In April, the province paused its policy around procurement from U.S. companies.
Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Dale Nally, in a statement on Friday night, said the government's decision heralds a “renewed commitment to open and fair trade with our largest partner.”
