Winnipeg police are doubling down on their efforts against gun-related crime by expanding their forensic capabilities into a provincial lab. By enhancing the analysis of shell casings and database searches, officials hope to crack more cases—proving that sometimes, even law enforcement can upgrade from duct tape solutions.
Police said the eventual goal is to expand FIAS into a full provincial gun lab, provide forensic information to investigators, and help crack down on gun crime.
